During these 1.5 hour classes, one of our knowledgeable instructors will teach the basics of each of these 5 essential pottery skills. These classes are intended for people who are new to these skills or need a refresher. Although there is no specific order to take these classes in, you will need to have created a piece in another session before registering for Intro to Trimming or Intro to Glazing.

Intro to Throwing 

In this class, you'll get a brief but thorough hands-on demo of the basics in wheel throwing, especially **how to center the clay** and beginning shaping techniques. You can choose one of your works to be finished for you by our staff, OR you can come back again to progress your work with our Intro to Trimming class at a later date.

Intro to Handbuilding

In this  class, you'll be introduced to the versatility of clay. You'll get to practice using molds, hand tools, rollers, cutters, and your own bare hands to produce a variety of fun, beautiful, and useful things. You can choose one of your works to be finished for you by our staff, OR you can come back again to progress your work with our Intro to Trimming class at a later date.

Intro to Sculpture 

In this class, you'll learn the basics of how to shape and form clay using your hands and tools. At the end of this session, you can choose one of your works to be finished for you by our staff, OR you can come back at a later date to finish your work with one of our Intro to Glazing sessions.

Intro to Trimming

In this class, you'll work with clay's leathery stage, which allows you to carve, shape, and trim your work in preparation for firing.. At the end of class, you can choose one of your works to be finished for you by our staff, OR you can come back at a later date to finish your work with one of our Intro to Glazing sessions.

Intro to Glazing 

In this class you'll hands-on class will introduce you to surface design techniques and glazing process, which allows you to add style, utility, and the impermeable toughness that only a glass coating can give. After class, our staff will send your pieces through our kilns, and you'll be able to pick up your finished work 1-3 weeks later.
